I completed the first update of the Calendar of Events page with conventions and other events in 2019. It is a time consuming process that starts by visiting all of the websites for the events in the past year. It continues by searching for clown, magic, puppetry, balloon, face painting, and other conventions that might be of interest to children’s entertainers.
When I visit a website, I am looking for the basic details I need to add the event to the calendar. It always amazes me how hard that can be on some websites. The information I want starts with the “Name of the Event” and “Date of the Event”. Next, I want to know where the event is located, which includes the “Location Name” and “Location Address”. With that information, I can add the website for the event to the list.
There are many challenges to getting the information. First, many websites use graphics instead of text. I can’t cut and paste a date or location from an image. Second, I don’t like ALL CAPS, and many websites use ALL CAPS for the event details. Third, many hide information about the location. They might list that the event is in Las Vegas, but finding where in Las Vegas, such as at a hotel, is a challenge. Even if they do give the name, sometimes, the address is missing, so I have to do a little more searching.
If you have an event that you want listed, please send me the following information
Name of the Event:
Date(s) of the Event:
